What is high hours on a UTV

Thinking of buying a used diesel Gator/ Ranger to replace one of the bikes.

See a lot advertised with 2-3k hours. I wouldn't buy a bike with them hours, they seem to give a bit of bother above 1000 hours. Where as a tractor with 2-3000 Hours is quite low.

My question is what would be considered high hours on one if these?

I’ve just bought one with about 2000 hrs and 16000 miles on it. I won’t do much I will bring that average down.
It’s minted. Previous owner spec’d it well - heater, LED’s etc - and obviously cared for it.
Like everything it’s down to the person operating it I think.

(PS I also bought a tractor with 9000hrs on it so high hours are nothing to be scared of. I say this touching wood and now worrying [emoji23])

That's a bit harsh, more like 25. Seriously though once they get to about 1500 hours they will need lots of money spent on them, regardless of make. Mud and sh*t acts like grinding paste if they have spent life on a livestock farm. It does depend how they have been looked after. Go and look with your eyes open and cheque book in your back pocket.

Good advice, we found unless you treat them with care and have a kind farm, they are best got rid before the warranty runs out and certainly before 2000 hrs. Had two gators here, gone back to a quad and don’t miss the hassle ( unless it’s really pissing down)

1000hrs before you get any major failures during farm use. Park or estate use can see this figure triple if not quadruple. Mainly due, as others have suggested to the harsher environmental factors experienced during farm use.
