Experience?
Have you done any welding, used a mig before?
Budget, new or s/h?
Gas/no gas?
Electricity supply?
Single phase
13a, 16a or 32a
Three phase
The list goes on.
There are some fantastic welders now that all you need to do is set metal and wire thickness and they will automatically set the rest for you, you'll need deeper pockets though.
You need to give a bit more info or you will just be thrown the name of every welder under the sun.

Only thing I would say the great and the good will tell you to avoid no gas if at all possible/budget allows.

It was the parweld synergic I was thinking about for auto setup, fully loaded it will do mig, tig or stick automatically, check out the reviews, sounds great. The welding supplies direct guy on here will keep you right on that.
Tag someone.
note. A lot of these boxes come out the same stable and most now have chinese parts, possibly wrong again but oxford and parweld may be the same.

Warrior welders. I think there’s a few on here with one now, they can make me look like a welder

Work on 40a per mm of steel as a rule of thumb for power, as said, you won’t find one machine to weld tin and thick steel.

Big amp machines don’t go down that low and small don’t go up that high.

So many brands out there to choose from. Personal preference dictates what to go for. I like migatronic, for what I do they are awesome, programmable torch, synergic set up etc but cost 5k

We have an hdg4500 sip. Can’t fault it. Also have a cheap Chinese 200a machine which is incredible for the money.

As aforementioned, look for duty cycle. Ideally you want 60% at full capacity.

Inverter migs are now common place. They are adaptable compared to transformer ones and don’t chew electricity quite like transformer machines. Each to their own mind.

Jasic
Esab
Warrior
Migatronic
Lincoln
All good brands above. Depending on your budget.
Good luck with your hunt.

I aspire to weld like that. That done with gas?

Yes, I have a bottle of hobbygas 5 as I don’t weld that often and renting seems dear. Hobbygas 5 lets you use the spray mig technique, helped by a good welder you can play with inductance. I have been playing at uphill but I’m not showing that[emoji6] yet

If just 13a plug then probably a140a will be the fuse max, a bigger box will work as long as it’s not wound up beyond that till electric upgrade, inverters will kick out more on 13a but possible lower duty cycle.
loads of information on here about most welders
