umm, it sounds like its somewhere between a bsw and a bsf which in themselves are worlds apart thread wise.
44mm would be damn close to 1,1/4 imperial.
threads are measured in TPI for imperial, as in threads per inch or in pitch for metric threads.
44mm thread OD wouldnt be a std size for a metric thread at least and at 6.25 odd tpi on face value at least sounds like maybe its imperial.
its quite possible its an in house thread.
a thread gauge would tell you more but youd have to invest some money in some of them to find out.
have you a picture of it by any chance.
set a calipers at 1" or 25.4mm and count exactly how many tops of threads there are between the legs of it.
