What would you do?

I asked my local tractor dealer to quote me for fitting the appropriate antenna and nav controller to my tractor (bought from them 4 months ago). This was in anticipation of all the drilling we shall be doing after dark, when we actually get going! I gave them the order after they quoted me last Saturday. Now I have heard that they have no idea when the hardware will get to them, and to cap it all I have also discovered that another dealer for the same manufacturer, but further away, can do the same thing significantly cheaper. Cancel order with local firm...insist that they price match the other dealer...??

Possibly not the same colour tractor or gear, but I had to wait nigh on 5 months (after order), for a receiver / steering controller upgrade this year.

There was simply no stock available from the manufacturer and then when the gear did arrive there were several “changes of staff” at the dealer which didn’t help matters. Sorted now, but it took several deep breaths and many chasers to get things complete.

Given that the ink on the order for yours is barely dry, I would, out of courtesy call the original dealer, calmly explain the situation and tell them your intention.

They may pull the proverbial out of a hat, or wish you well, but at least you have been transparent about it all. Just make sure the second dealer isn’t promising the undeliverable and find yourself waiting on stock too.

does the cheaper dealer have it in stock ? and if they do is it like for like the same as quoted or an older model ?
If it is in stock with them yes cancel it and say you need quick delivery that you can get elsewhere. But look before you leap !!!

I believe neither dealer has it in stock. Both quotes are for identical new items. I have raised the situation calmly but firmly with original dealer and await a response. Not helped by the sales person being on holiday. Raining again this afternoon, so if forecast for next 2 days is correct a further wait will not matter.
