Whatever it costs you plus marginWe've been asked to do some repairs and fabricating of stock gates. It will fit in well as can do as and when along with plenty to go at. They will provide all materials, we'll supply labour and tools inc welder, most will be done in our workshop. Whats a fair hourly rate?
Just hold on there this is not the how much should I be getting an hour relief milking thread£45 per hour.
Sounds about right to me, £45/h + vat and consumables.£45 per hour.
quite pleased with that ,....... thinking how much ive saved over the years.£45 per hour.
It’s repairs though so the amount of work it takes to sort each gate could be different so hard to do for a fixed price. If you are making gates I think it would be better for both if it were a price per gate then you both know where you stand. I am a fabricator, rarely work by the hour, usually each job priced.
I'd agree for a "farm welder", fabricator would be considerably more.I’d have thought £30 but sure everyone likes to rip the arse out of things these days
I do find these “ how much” threads seem to be maned by the get every penny you can brigade. Ag really isn’t the same as other industries like it or not. The margins ain’t there to sustain “ I won’t get out of bed for less the 250 quid folks. £45 an hour probably is ok if your work rate and quality matches it. No disrespect to the OP I’m sure your worth every penny.I’d have thought £30 but sure everyone likes to rip the arse out of things these days

I just know as a livestock farmer I can’t keep sustaining these high prices for every thing for the foreseeable future.
I try and do as much as possible myself lately.
Exactly which is why they should be getting £50/HR!Can get a 250hp 200k tractor, driver and on there fuel for £45/HR!
That’s usually because a farming business has bought the tractor and they’re working of nothing! Can get a 250hp 200k tractor, driver and on there fuel for £45/HR!
