Whatsapp problem

For some reason just recently i'm not getting notifications from Whatsapp, neither tone nor vibrate, wife and myself have identical phones and the settings are the same, hers gives a tone mine does not.
Normal text and phone tones and vibrate OK though.

Looks like something with the phone, when restarting phone usually says 'hell moto' silence this time, volume turned up full, just rung it from house phone and ringtone still works OK.

Mine doesn’t seem to update very often either. Soon does when you go into the app.

Is the background app refresh setting on? Mobile data on?

I've now been in to phone settings, then notifications, it showed Whatsapp as silenced, I've never altered that, only think it's some update that happened, but then it should have done the same to the wifes phone as well.

That hasn't worked, still silent.

Give in, no idea on either thing you mention, I just plug it in to charge every night and leave everything else alone.

If still no joy, just Uninstall and Re-Install the app. Makes sure there are no conflicts and that you have the most up to date version.

Android, yes, It's 7 and it won't go any more on this phone.

I'll throw it to my daughter, if she or her mates can't sort it, it'll be @steveR method.

Thing is of course my daughter has been telling me for about 2 years now to get a new phone, this will just reinforce the nagging. She likes spending my money.

In all honesty @Netherfield, it's the work of 5 mins to do. Just get your daughter to check that your message base etc, is all saved. In theory, the default setting on most apps is to save data, but....
