Wheat weight loss

The contract the wheat was on has been completed and all paperwork on both parties is all correct. It's nothing to do with them.

I think we've had 20-30 tonnes loaded out of the grain store by a 3rd party.
If the contract was fulfilled, then who was the remaining grain for? Is there not weigh tickets for this

Farm saved seed? To grow 1500t of wheat you'd need about 30 tonnes of seed.

Or more likely, incorrect tare weight for the carting tractors, unless weighing every empty trailer on it's way out of the yard. 1 stout driver (in the cab for the gross weight, out for the tare) x 100 loads = 10 tonne discrepancy.

No seed. Tractors weighed properly every single load.

Id say thats perfectly possible.

I had a lorry turn up couple of years ago i wasnt expecting, i turned him away but good job i was there as driver said he would of been happy to load himself in no one had been there. Turns out haulier subbed a few loads out and haulage instructions had got muddled up.

Just loaded the last load of one milling variety out. We loaded in over a ministry tested weighbridge 1573.86 tonnes at moistures ranging from 16.4-18.7% over a 3 day window. Every load is tested for moisture, bushel and temperature before tipping. Now the last load has gone out over the same weighbridge we have sold 1482.54 tonnes at 14.5% - 15%. So we have lost 91.32 tonnes of weight effectively. This was dried using on floor driers. How does that match others as on paper the thought of loosing nearly 100 tonnes at £138t/tonne is not great!

Presumably it has been moving out over a period of up to nearly a year? There is always a weight loss in storage over such a time and 1% is fairly typical. Don't forget the grain is still a living organism and there are other processes/biology at work in the heap all the time. This is a downside to long term storage and one that is not always factored in.

Started moving it in January so yes in store about 11 months. Even adding in another 1% loss as you suggest there is still some gone missing.

I lost a load for a fortnight a year ago but had the paperwork to show collection. Turned up in the hauliers workshop as trailer reportedly was taken off the road. Merchant and myself were in the dark until I raised the query as to its whereabouts. Looking back,(the haulier has since ceased trading )I wonder if it would have been cashed in if I hadn't noticed it missing(n)
