Nothing here, I try and avoid 34's and 24's. Much more choice in 38's and 28's.
Strange combination there,I thought it was 16.9x34 & 13.6x24 which is 480/70/34 & 380/70/24 and also 540/65/34 & 440/65/24 but in you're case 420/70/24 or 480/65/24.Hi,
I’m looking for a set of wider wheels and tires to suit a ford 6610.
Currently on 16.9 r34 and 14.9 r24.
You're still on wrong sizes there which isn't uncommon for some tractors but 12.4s would not give you the advantage of 4wd and they are not giving a front lead. In you're situation 480s and 380s 70 series will fit you're existing rims and wider or 540 and 440 65 series will be mighty on her but 16"& 14" rim recommended but according to the tyres already fitted none of the above is correct. You are quite right, I’ve just been out to check and the current tyres are
420/85 r34 (16.9 r34)
320/85 x r24 (12.4 r24)
Would I be right in thinking I could fit a set of 38 and 28 as long as the ratio is kept the same? So maybe easier to move up a size as well as wider ?
There are lots of variables involved and it's quite hard to predict the differences in handling. Wider tyres will ride over the top of rabbit burrows, pot holes etc better without dropping in, but the extra bulging and flex of the sidewalls means they can get a wobble on with a heavy implement or traileri was thinking about changing from 420/85/34 to 480/70/34 and 380/85/24 to 420/70/24 was doing this because higher load rate on 480/70/34. will this make tractor more comfortable and will it leave steering heavy. any other changes that i should expect
Still looking for these @Hayboy? I am looking to change the wheels on my 6610 for something narrower. Have a look at the thread I started in the classic machinery section.Hi,
