When do you sheet down your pit?

So, it's evening, it's all in the pit, and you've rolled it in nicely.

What do you do?

Anything after 10pm we’ll leave to the morning anything before that we’ll cover it

If it'll be finished before dark push on. Otherwise pull a sheet over only if it's going to rain.

Cover it, get the sh*tty job done at the end of the day.
At least that way you won’t be tempted to roll it again in the morning.

Roll it down as finished cover with cling seal leave till morning .Shed has a roof .Exposed and windy would cover rain coming .

we got cling film and top sheet on, and weighted down with tyres, needs more tyres, but finished at 10pm, cows were rather keen to be milked ! They were x'ing the road at 10.15pm.

time and labour is an issue, lack of both today. But a properly made silage, is so important, one shouldn't skimp, however tempting it is.

Depends what time that day you realised that either the sheet you have is too small, you used top sheet for sides by mistake or not there at all because you forgot to get one

Try and time it for when there's some kids about. It's horsework trying to hold a sheet down and weight it down with just two of you. We've got galebreakers above the panels this year, so it might not get as blustery

Leave it till next morning and take staff and family out for lunch/beer after done.

Always do it when finish regardless of time,trailer boys and chopper driver all help,prefer to get it done than having to do it after morning milking the next day

Last load in at 8.15, all sheets by 9.45. Just needs tidying after TB testing today.

What’s the reason for this?

I was told don't roll it then leave it, as it forces air out then sucks it all back in again.
I try and sheet it, even if I don't get all tyres on. I will spread tyres and add them in the morning to make them edge to edge. It not usually that late for me though.
