Which farm bank to move to?

totally given up with our bank and looking to change.

Obviously a large chunk of what makes a good bank is the first point of contact which varies from area to area.

However different banks will have different software / online banking systems - can anyone recommend which have the easiest and most advanced to use?

We have simple needs and thus don't need a clever bank man, we just need a good online system which is hard to work out until you have signed up - not like meeting the local managers and taking a view!

Any negatives on the systems you use? We have quite a few payments each month and run over 10 separate accounts.

Barclays have a good online banking setup.
You can search for an amount or a name over the last year or more . So if you want to see how much you have paid mole valley over the last 12 months just type in mole valley the dates and bingo the payments will come up . Also if joe bloggs pays you via online payments you can search him to find out if he's paid up .
Moving money from account to account is easy and once you have set up a payment to someone it's very easy to pay them !
I have HSBC account also but think Barclays has a better online set up

HSBC - OK but annoying dongle thing you have to have with you to log in. They do show next day transactions which can be useful. The newer one is like a calculator. Natwest / RBS is a good online system but need a card reader to set up new payments which can be inconvenient. My private account is with Santander and their system is good with no silly devices, all done by text. I think I would consider them for a business account.

Currently with RBS and pretty happy with them to be honest.

The card readers dongel things are for added security .
Once you have set a payment up useing card reader ( the mobile app turns in to card reader with Barclays) it's there for good so makes life easier and once you get the hang of setting up a new paye- qicker than finding cheque book envelope stamp and posting the thing .

Thanks everyone! Reassuring to see our current bank is not listed!

Does anyone know if the Barclays private and business online system is the same? I have private which seems to work ok.

I think dongles are here to stay sadly. I can live with the, as all office based. Not so keen on mobile apps, always worried about security.

You put you bank card in a thing that looks bit like a calculator put a PIN number in and it generates a different code number each time to log on to internet bank that's the Barclays one or you can download Barclays Bank app to your phone and you can use it without the bank card .
HSBC is a quite small looking calculator that's needs a bit more information typing in then it generates a code also but it's a small fiddly thing .

Only issue I have with Barclays online banking is if you pay for something by BACS, and forget to print the receipt immediately, you can never access it again.

Very interesting comments, I think it's all about the rapport you have with the manager. Have been with Natwest for some time just got a new manager and not a patch on the last one. Time for a change I think - not very difficult these days! Will be interviewing in the next couple of weeks.
