Which new Fendt 900 model?

In these parts of the Fens the 936 model runs supreme with most probably 80%+ of the 900 market, but now buyers have the option of a higher horsepower rated 939 and 942. So is the 360hp machine still likely to be favourite or will farmers migrate upto more hp?

Salesman round here always said you gained nothing with the 939 compared to the 936 unless you do heavy pto work like on a veg farm. If that is true then I guess the 939 will replace the 936 and the 942 will replace the 939? Like all new tractors people will upgrade to a bigger model despite not needing it and then moan about the price!

Yes your probably right. I guess the 939 maybe more of an attraction as the size and weight of these new 900s has increased and farmers will need the extra 30 hp to maintain the power to weight ratio.
Although will a 939 and 942s extra power make it to powerful for many farms existing bed tillers and the like currently used on their 936s?

the trick is to buy the lowest hp with the same displacement and weight carrying capacity, cause end of the day they all chip to the same peak hp

for example, if u buy a vw 1.6 tdi, 75hp, 90hp and 105hp all chip to 140hp the only difference is software. same can't be said for the 2.0, but in the tractor world its the same game as vw's 1.6 tdi

Big problems in that plan as of it is a new tractor a fendt engineer can not work on a tractor that has been chipped or remapped .

Yeah but the flagship model is always nicer. Dont ask me why but it just is. Round here there is few 6616 masseys but none other models of that series and same applies to lot of makes

plenty of 936 stock machines being sold as the massive price hike to the new range has put people off. Neighbour demo’d a 942 but bought an ex demo 936 to replace his drilling tractor as the 942 was 1.25 ton heavier

With such a weight difference farmers will have to move up to a 939 at least to keep the power to weight ratio when all the old stock machines have been sold.
Unless they think the next generation 800 series can do the job...…………...Im thinking we may well see an 832 or 833 flagship which might interest some compaction conscious 900 users.
