Ha - @Brisel Yep we have designed a 12m Rake and can now offer it for this harvest but we would want an order by the end of July to guarantee delivery for end July. Effectively its the same as our 15m but smaller so I guess slightly less horsepower.

Why are you looking at 12m? CTF?

Chopping and spreading straw ,
Tilthy stale seedbeds,
Reducing slug population ,
Pre drilling seedbed reparations ,
Post drilling harrowing ,
Establishing cover crops,
Regenerating grass lays,
Chopping cover crops, the Rezult does the lot.

We bought a Claydon rake last year and are very pleased with it.
At first i was not so sure as conditions were very dry and it did not appear to be doing a great deal. Then i found a patch that we had missed. You can certainly see the difference in germination of weed/volunteers.

There are only 2 fields that we did not rake this year and they are the only 2 that have been bothered with slugs. Could be a coincidence, but i am sold on the idea.
Our is a 7.5m machine on a 200hp massey. It knows it's got it on. We occasionally pull it with a 185hp NH but it is not really enough.

Its surprising what a rake can do.

At last years tillage by mid morning when I got round to it, the Rezult had turned most of its plot into a couple of inches of very fine loose tilth. Finer and fluffier than any min till plot I saw. Goodness knows how many passes it had done over the same spot by then though.

But what for? Seeds dont need fluffy tilth, they just need soil.

That was some wonderful soil at the tillage event (Cirencester). That said the long stubble / poor distribution caused some problems for a number of the machines we looked at.

Ref. the Bednar it keeps surprising me how some manufacturers will take a lovely simple and good working design and make it overly complicated with more wearing metal and extra bits and pieces! First you get a few rake tines. Then some disc's need to go in front. Maybe some cross boards, a roll on the back will be next. Might as well add a drill and a few more bits and pieces.

One of the major plus points I like so much about the harrow is it's simplicity! Recently priced up what it would cost to replace all tines on a 7.5m. Surprised at the relatively 'low' cost of the tines.
