Wholecrop wheat for sheep?

I put in some spring wheat this year, not under sowed or anything, I've sprayed it for weeds and it seems quite healthy, fair bit of grass through it but my intention was to round bale it and sell it, was thinking of trying a few bales on my ewes on the lead up to lambing, to reduce meal costs, would it be a good job?
I only put in 10acres of usually wholecrop barley this past few years and decided to try the wheat this year as something different, I'm by no means an expert in cereals, just have a few acres to spare and like to experiment. Tia

They'd eat if it had been through a forager I'd think but don't think they'd eat it'd do them much good without the grains being rolled ...
