Who's spraying for bruchid beetle?

As above. Temperatures will be high enough and pod set has started in my winterbeans so could spray this week. However we are not now supposed to mix with fungicides and I will kill a lot of beneficials both of which put me off applying. At the moment I am erring towards no. What do others think, especially people like @Clive who dislike insecticides? Another problem that is over hyped by the media?

Dont bother unless you can guarantee a big premium, and not too much mess. The UK is awash with beans IMO.
I cannot guarantee a premium! It seems that if they have the choice (which they do) buyers prefer springs for human consumption. Need to run through with fungicide but its a shame it can't be tank mixed (for bee friendly purposes). The only reason I can think of really to do them is the fact that anecdotally seed with holes in doesn't grow as well as seed without.

Where did this come from?

if you are spraying beans then get up early and spray before 10 oclock in the morning bees are late starters in the morning

do not mix with fungicide

winter beans are probably a waste of time to spray as spring beans are better for hc but in the last year the hc premium is so low it is not worth the spraying time

my spring beans are not at the stage yet

there is a possibility that the hot weather a few weeks ago got the bruchid up early but then the cold weather sorted them out

the last 3 years I sprayed before the bees were up and did not see any reduced bee activity and struggled to control bruchid

I've seen some really thick winter bean crops, is the spray really going to penetrate deep enough to do any good. I'm not sure myself.

Well sprayed fungicide this evening. Front of tractor had lots of bruchid stuck to it which did not please me at all. I have never really seen them before when spraying at this time I don't think. Lots of greenfly, some horrible maggoty things quarter of an inch long and a whole load of tiny yellow mites were stuck to the front too. Oh and the odd Lady bird.

Hopefully no bees though ;)

B Beetle spraying is so hit and miss, there is no exact timing , if you want to feel good for the crop SPRAY if you want to feel good for beneficials and the
environment DONT SPRAY take your pick but I will add the premium is shite, if no BB there will be something as there are LOTs of beans out there looking very well!

Sprayed mine late last night mixed with fungicide beans very tall lot of damage under tractor hope it was worth it
yes for the fungicide definitely. Otherwise all the leaves will get disease and fall off leaving shrivelled beans. Wherever I miss a bit l realise the fungicide is essential because you will either get rust or chocolate spot badly.
