been using a lim bull on my bbx/ hex/ simx cows/heifers for the last 4/5 years. nice looking calves and they finish well get but I think I've got to the stage that I cant be bothered with there wild temperament any more. from trying to tag/ castrate them to trying to get them in the race they are always trying to kick out or trying to jump a gate! the cows and the bull I can quite happily walk around and stroke without them even moving. I like weighing my cattle a fair bit to make sure they are gaining weight so I can do without the wildness.

you should try using a blue bull then
got to push to calves out the way, I do wish they would move a bit faster sometimes

Should have never been imported
Total crap!!!
Its the twits that check em twice a week at 40mph on a fecking quad bike that upsets em. Try walking around and being gentle around em and not shouting and spooking em and use good handling kit and not bleady sheep hurdles!!!
My Limo bull and cow's are very well behaved but I won't own a quad bike for the above reason's

rubbish!

We've stopped using lim Bulls because of the calves wild temperament. Using blue Bulls now and the calves are very docile under the exact same management. Also lim x cows are killers for a few days/weeks after calving.

I'll keep posting it until the prejudice subsides,
Our wildest cow , by a country mile is a BBX ,
Everyone knows her as ' the loony'
Don't tar all limmys with the same brush.

Barren the wild ones rather than breed from em. Temperament is passed on so easy chosen.
A guy that breed fantastic pedigree dairy cows once told me he thought he had breed perfect dairy heifers until they calved and they just kicked the crap outa him and he barrened the lot. When talking to the AI man afterwards he was told it was a down fall of the bulls breeding.
Some breeders just don't worry at all about temperament tho!

Wouldn't want to do without a bike here. We swapped it for a mule once had a few red faces and a bit of bad language that year. Soon bought one again just don't go shepherding on it. As soon as our cattle hear it they will be standing at the gate and if they arnt they don't mess twice limmy or no limmy. A bag might be ok for half a dozen if you have all day

I heard they descended from deer, maybe all cattle did but limos are supposed to be closer relatives, I might be wrong but they do kinda resemble deer with the bright circles around their eyes:)

We have Welsh blacks, mostly very quiet! Accidentally had a lim x WB and she jumped into the pit when TB testing, swam out herself tho. Everyone said it was coz she had half lim and she was wild, OH said she only had the brains to swim out again coz she had the lim in her :) anyhow kept her and she is just as quiet as the WBs now, due to calve in May so we'll see how it goes :)
