Why is 90% of land for sale on online markets in wales in south wales?

If you look on onthemarket and do map view for all wales (at least for 50k and under in the 'entry level' plots I am looking at) it becomes very clear that nearly all available stuff is clustered in the south with only a couple dotted about in mid and north wales.

I was mainly looking at woodland but all land seems to follow this same trend of what is available.

This is rather confusing to me since the south I have known to be more related to industrialisation and urbanisation with mid and north being more barren in terms of human populations. So why is there barely anything going in mid and north wales?

Why nothing in the vast swathes of area covering elan valley or tregaron to abergwesyn valley? I am speaking more of woodland for the latter two. There is tons of forestry there why non up for sale? Is it just kept under lock and key by NRW or maybe I just hvaen't looked in the right price bracket. Seems strange though because the big woodland for sale sites are known to buy huge chunks of woodland and split them up to resale at a huge profit.

Is it just the 'high rollers' of the farming world where bidding starts in the hundreds of thousands who can buy in these regions and thus I have not seen them due to my narrow search criteria?

Having said all that would I have more luck looking elsewhere? I am not 'connected' in the farming world and don't live in wales so do not have access to local communities to access the great vine so online is my only in I think.

I much prefer mid and north wales and particularly middle to east because they are away from the huge tourist magnets.

Supply and demand usually. Got to go where you can or pay for what you want.
