Why is paintwork so poor?

For a premium brand, the paint on Fendt steps seems to be useless.
Being a bit ocd I got them shot blasted and dipped.

I’ll treat them and spray them grey over Christmas, should be a longer term job (or at least look better)

We have had parts of Fendts repainted under warranty , paint work on them is normally very good

JCB have the worse paint job of any machine we have every owned & they will do nothing at all about , so the best answer is to buy no more

I’d disagree, the paintwork on the steps is probably the only part of the product I’m disappointed with (well perhaps the toolbox could be bigger).
That’s based on owning two of them.

One thing I can never work out is why manufacturers dont galvanise farm trailers.
You would struggle to find a new trailer to go behind a car that isn't galvanised, but a trailer 3x 4x 5x the price gets a crap paint job and rots away in no time.

I’d imagine that weight could be part of the issue.

A local contractor had a Bredal spreader with a lot of stainless steel for a while but I think it was moved on due to the extra weight.

There's a couple of trailer manufacturers in Ireland that galv their trailers.

I tried buying one during the pandemic, as a once in a lifetime purchase, but due to bounce back loans demand was through the roof and I couldn't even place an order. Had to buy a painted one instead.

Plenty of slurry tankers available galvanised if you want/are prepared to pay the extra.

Powder coated is very good on all slurry kit a lot better than standard paint

I personally think Bailey were one of the best but they may have had to cut corners to compete with others.they all do the same job but it’s not good if paint falls off then too easily.

Bailey paint is shocking. We got 2 trailers in summer 22 our dump trailer looks terrible now from stone chips along the sides which are unavoidable when loading with the digger there's always something gonna fall off the bucket and I do a fair bit with the riddle bucket. The grain trailer is rusty as well despite never seeing a salty road . They did say we should've got the special non chip paint but too late now.

I think it's basically underseal as it look like orange peel like the very bottom of a car .

It’s actually more like that flexible bed liner stuff, that gets sprayed in the back of pickup’s, but developed by Baileys paint supplier in their colour.

Surely it means the product was rusty before painting?

So long as any damage to the coating doesn't allow water ingress to rot the steel from under the coating, like Golf mk5 sills.
