I am reasonably good with computers and the like, considering that i was born in the sixtys but

Is it the smart phone (Motorola one) that needs to be able to wifi call OR is it the operating system (android 10)?

I am unable to find this option in settings.....

It can depend on your Network Provider, monthly plan and operating system.

Give then a call and they should be able to talk you through it if it is possible.

Your network will have to switch it on even if your phone is capable of wifi calling. All calls via wifi are still billed to your contact as if they were mobile calls.

Works well but I find the phone will snap from mobile to wifi but not the other way so you can't leave the house once you've started a call.

I've found that a good fast low latency broadband connection is needed for this to work properly.
When the kids get home and use the broadband here, wifi calling is terrible.
So I've turned it off

The settings in Samsung Android do not appear until after the network has enabled WiFi calling, and you have restarted the phone (several times)

What Network?
My Motorola doesn't have wifi calling, but Three have given me a 'signal box' that works off t'internet - I'm sure other networks do similar
Wifi calling ( I`m told ) is better than the signal box, as the wifi signal has better range than the signal box. which has limited power outtput
Especially if you have some extra wifi boosters giving signal across the yard / buildings etc

But it does not do texts, which the Vodafone Sure Signal does

It should do, our family phones are all on wi if calling as we have no reception at all at the house. We used to use Vodafone’s sure signal but although it would let you know of an incoming call and receive a text, it was impossible to have a conversation on it. Wi fi calling from EE allows us to have a normal conversation with a phone as clear as the landline.
