Interval and stubble turnips been on this field over winter, will be disked and reseeded when weather gets better, does it need round up like this?

I’d say it’s too early to tell. When ‘the weather gets better’ you will see if a mass of weeds start to germinate, in which case a low dose of glyphosate might well be sensible.
If you get a flush of weeds coming, it would certainly be better to give them a sniff of glyphosate, rather than start your expensive reseed with weed grasses already established.

That's not a very good quality photo.

I've got spear thistles in the aftermath of my turnips so will get high rate Kyleo tomorrow as glyphosate alone isn't great on plants a foot in diameter. Some regrowth of turnips & a few grass weeds, inlcuding sterile brome so no chances will be taken. I've got my own sprayer which helps the decision making.

@gwi1890 is there any greenery in the field? How long before you reseed it? I'll bet that greens up soon enough. Glyphosate is far cheaper than a selective herbicide in whatever you're planting next, especially if it's a mix of grasses and broad leafed plants like clover where you've hardly got any options at all apart from spot treatment.

Agree, that's why I like a stale seedbed technique, a bit of cultivation and a bit Glyphosate, both at the right times...

The chemical Reps have Won!

There's now 2 threads on the go about spraying bare ground/ground with a bit of chickweed, when anyone can see all that's needed is a run through with a cultivator (repeat in two weeks)
and problems solved.

No wonder the environmental lobby has got it in for farmers!

I don't think the consensus was to spray bare ground to be honest... Rather it was to cultivate and spray IF there is a weed problem. The problem with pure cultivation weed control techniques in the Spring, is that you can struggle to get a proper kill, it needs hot dry weather... something in short supply in North Wales.

It is far better for the environment to clean the ground BEFORE drilling, especially of perennial or hard to control weeds.

I use stale seedbeds almost exclusively for the wild bird mixtures, as it is nigh on impossible to use herbicide for weed control!
