Just reading the other day there is not a free upgrade available now. Think the cost is circa £100 About 3 years ago M/S were offering free upgrade but not now.

They have made it a lot easier of late. Back everything up (make sure you have all your passwords and logins too) and then off you go.

If you have W7 pro then you can get W10 pro

Bit cheaper than the Microsoft suggestion that the best way to update is to buy a new computer with W10.

You need the windows download tool google it, run it and you will then download win 10, run this and if you have a registered copy on your pc it will do a automatic authentication it and will store your windows old in a folder,
if you do not like it you have 30 days to revert to your old windows.
also to get rid of the crap windows interface download classic shell and run it with the windows 7 interface

But, strangely, Classic Shell no longer works on my brother's or my wife's W10 PC, whereas it works fine on mine.

Indeed, but on the 2 PC's that I was referring to this message appears after each reboot, which is rather annoying
