How well do beans cope with wet conditions? Sown mine with a standard box drill, nothing yet, field is pretty wet…

They can cope with wet but if it’s compacted and wet they will really struggle.

Thats ok then, I haven't rolled them after they were sown, so they should be ok...

I should have a little dig around to see whats going on, but i've not seen the field in daylight when it's not persisting it down for a while now...

Beans will cope with wet a lot better than peas or linseed would cope with the wet.

Started drilling today, just dry enough on the heavier patches but carried on hopefully get them in before the rain comes again.

15th oct, you wouldn’t drill them now as it’s wet and last year I drilled them later and the crows pulled the heads of about 25%

they were last year as mine were the only beans around, they didn’t bother with digging they just broke the heads off trying to pull them out

2 escorts in front ,stop cars before they reach narrow bits trouble coming to mine was road works too narrow to pass to detour needed

This is what the belligerent things do, you can see the broke. Stem just under the bit of straw. They don’t get the bean they don’t eat anything they just snap the plants off, both in this picture

Last field going in today, had to wait for the BG to stop emerging on this field
Going surprisingly well but had to drill a bit shallower as it’s fairly wet now after 170mm in the last 2 1/2 weeks, the joys of chalk !!
