Winter cereals and oilseeds in Europe.

More than likely due to to the international grain traders playing the system,.However im going on an independent study tour of holland and germany in a few weeks to the snow covered meadows of the austrian alps so thinking I will return via the southern route across northern france ,whilst my secretary takes notes of the state of the autumn sown crops in order to source my own reliable reports as an aid to marketing and further planting decisions. ( All reasonable costs will be for the farm account !! )
Good thinking we are off this time next week to the French Alps, usually do quite a bit of roadside farming on the way down I expect the first few miles from Calais will be under water it often is when we go by, at least with the French dislike of hedges it's easy to have a good look

we have done it ever since the kids were little and self drive was the cheaper option most years the knowledge gleaned has paid off.

@robs1 That is why I started the thread!! I wondered why things had not moved North yet,!! and my nieghbour who does my arable is always moaning at the wheat and barley price. We lost all our rape between us but the wheat does not look tooo bad and I think we should stick with it if there looks to be a crop. Between 300 and 400 ft up in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

There must be others in Holland, Germany and further South that can report on cereals , fruit and vegetables or have the supermarkets got you to sign a DND form!!!

Don't tell the French but French mustard is made with 80% Canadian grains. There was a catastrophic harvest there in 2021 and it almost vanished from the shelves here for a while. It should be back now though as the area grown and production doubled as a result in 2022 and we have no visible shortage here.
eee well i didnt know that now! its yummy stuff but still non in any UK food shops ever since.
Every other type of mustard is there tho.

Will some parts of Europe that are usually too dry Spain, Portugal, Italy etc Have gained from extra moisture?

@Spanish

Northern Italy did not get any abnormal rain in the autumn. A very dry summer balanced a wet spring (part of this region was flooded for weeks in May).
Overall the amount is average:

Drilling was normal and wheat looks good.
