Winter or spring barley…?

Just kicking some ideas around, I’d be thankful for your collective wisdom…

I’ve got a small patch of easy draining, sandy loam land, even after all this rain I could plough it, an afternoon of sunshine on it would dry it out lovely.

The plan was spring barley, but would I be of benefit sowing some winter barley in it now, rather than waiting until spring…?

Thanks all!

I’d wait until spring and sow spring barley.

I'd wait until spring and sow spring barley in this case but in land such as that you would be better sowing winter barley in the conventional timing and it would do well IME. Barley just doesn't like the mud like wheat does.
I’m not convinced, my winter barley has established far better than my winter wheat this year. All drilled in the same week of November into tricky conditions ( All DD 🤫)
