Is that soil fertile usually?

I'd be content to leave that alone for now. You can't even see the ground between the rows!

Keep an eye on it but I would not be too worried about that. It will probably want a stiff PGR at T0 at any rate.
Extra fertility from a years fallow and a helping of turkey litter pre drilling!

My Zyatt is looking similar . I hope it is just a variety trait because the last time this field looked like this it turned out to be BYDV and we lost over 30% of yield . It was a different variety that year .

Too even over the fields to be virus and generally virus is on young leaves ....that is a very high number of tillers per unit area you ha e pulled out. Can see drill overlaps are worse to a line here. Something g has to give with all the biomass so it’s a kind of early scenecence imv ready for spring growth. Thin/ later crops without the soft growth are green. But the decayed leaf will be available nutrition later in the season ...
