Winter Wheat seed treatment?

Got some red clover, IRG leys coming out that were undersown in spring barley 2016. They've been silage three times 2017 and twice in 2018 & 2019. Grazed every winter until Xmas.
Will SPD be ok or will we have to invest in something better?
When should we be destroying grass and cultivating field?

Need to ascertain wireworm risk. You wouldn't expect wireworm numbers to build up to significant/treatable levels in a 3 and half year old ley, especially if the previous crops weren't grass (or infested with grass weeds).

What was previous couple of crops before the undersown spring barley in 2016?

No chemical options for Leatherjackets or Frit Fly in the following wheat crop so reliant on cultural control measures i.e. need to spray off ley as early as possible before establishing the wheat to break the lifecycle of leatherjackets/frit fly (6-8 weeks from memory).

There is minimal wireworm risk and minimal leatherjacket risk. SPD will be fine. Make a good seedbed and establish the crop a little earlier and when the soil is warm. It will fly out of the ground and be well covered in by the time winter arrives.

Spray off the grass early as above to reduce frit fly risk.
