Winter wheat

If your T0 is delayed to the point that it is T1 timing, you can either add it to the tank with your T1 or just stiffen the T1 a bit. This only really applies to people who get actual septoria, not you rust boys.

I would be getting your weed control on at the very least (if you actually need any).

I have mixed manganese with atlantis/biopower before. No issues but you shouldn't be doing it where you have a serious grass weed issue (i.e blackgrass).

How are people's weed problems?
Residuals seem to have worked very well this year on most of my WW
just a few mayweed and cleaver to snuff out in a few places but generally good.aclonifen seems to have worked very well on Rye grass

Some bad fields of second wheat for blackgrass. Overall just a smattering which is pretty standard, looks messy but doesn’t cause any issues, try not to get too upset about it these days. All other weeds are easily controlled although got brome creeping in on some fields.

I think I used to worry too much about grass weeds. They might look untidy but if they aren't going to stop a combine then you haven't really lost that much yield. You'd go bankrupt before you would chase every grass weed out the gate.

Do people try and take these out or just leave it for the combine to deal with save some money

take out bits here and there but on heavy land we have to just live with the fact we will always have blackgrass. It’s just way to adaptable and lives in hedge bottoms etc , just keep it at a manageable level.

It's the risk that a few turns into a lot. And i don't like spending months of winter wondering if my lovely wheat will end up a carpet of it.
The problem is sometimes control from the residuals is amazing, and sometimes it’s utterly useless. It’s all abit of a gamble to be honest.
We’ve got a rotation in place that can Keep levels manageable generally, but perfection just won’t happen anymore.
We have been greedy with some second wheat which will bite us.
One thing I’m noticing is we have a lot in strips directly behind the combine, maybe it’s because of ctf that I’m noticing it more but it does suggest to me a lot more is going through the combine than I thought.
On the back of that we are involved with trialling one of the first of 3 redekop seed control units in the country on a project with niab, it mills up weed seeds.
I guess I should be proud that my grassweed problem is so bad I got picked for it 😂
