working alone

Spend most of the time alone either in the tractor or on the farm. Working with dad can be stressful and being alone in the tractor gives too much time to think about other things. How do others cope?

What I like about a livestock farm is how varied every day is.

Love driving tractors but soon get fed up of it.

Like working with livestock but love to get back on the tractor for a break.

Quite lucky in a way we farm around a village so always someone around to stop and have a chat with.

Recently visited a farm in the middle of nowhere to buy breeding stock, must be a lonely life away from civilisation.

Digital radio and podcasts/downloads make the days more interesting - I am a long time Radio 4 addict, but if you listen all week the weekends are nearly all repeated, so it is good to have something else.
Digital radios for tractors are now very cheap.

Some thinking time is good - too much can send you a bit close to the edge!

Another +1 for working alone. A bit of quiet and being able to get on with something.
I've always liked working on my own, but nowadays there's always a kid or 4 in tow, the parlour is two man, and the house is never empty. Most of the time that's great, but every so often I need a 'Get out of Jail' card-just a bit of time on my own to get something done, so that I feel like I'm gaining

Exactly it's when I'm on my own most of the time that it messes with my head.

I'm happiest alone. Even though it's usually alone with animals who I can talk to then. Anything in a vehicle usually has music and bad singing cranked.

More of my days are spent alone than around others so that's when I'm more likely to be annoyed :ROFLMAO:

I work alone all the time.even when my dad was alive I'd have to manage by myself.can get stressful at times as no help whatso ever and I do struggle a bit at times.no one to talk to either.if there are things that I really can't manage by myself I get my mums handy man to help when he comes every two or three weeks.when doing building work the attitude of men really pisses me of with their laziness and it's good to get home again
