The World Biogas Expo Postponed to 7-8 October 2020

16 March 2020

We have been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and related WHO and government guidelines. With responsibility for the health of exhibitors and visitors and after consulting with our Advisory Board and key industry stakeholders, ADBA and WBA have decided to postpone The World Biogas Expo 2020. The World Biogas Expo will now take place at The NEC Birmingham on 7-8 October 2020. Consequentially, the co-located events, The World Biogas Summit, and The AD and Biogas Industry Awards Dinner will also be postponed until this date.

Given the spread of the virus and containment measures now being taken worldwide, both visitor and exhibitor attendance would be affected given our evolution into a global event.

We are certain that our sponsors, exhibitors and visitors will have a more positive and constructive experience at The World Biogas Expo 2020 later in the year once the impact of Covid 19 has calmed.

The move to 7-8 October means that The World Biogas Expo 2020, themed ‘There’s no Net Zero without Biogas’, and The World Biogas Summit, will now take place one month prior to the COP26 climate talks in Glasgow – presenting an opportunity to demonstrate to world leaders that our industry offers a big part of the solution for climate change and, with their support, how we can deliver a 12% cut in global greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

We thank everyone for their patience and understanding, and look forward to welcoming you to The World Biogas Expo and the World Biogas Summit 2020 in October.

In the meantime, keep safe.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
