It is the most expensive sheep. The previous one had been sold for £265, 000... But the main question is, what is the value in spending such an amount?

Can the wool from the sheep generate £1M?
Coz that is the only way this would make sense
It was explained last year on here when the ram hit £265k how that money would be brought back and as long as he’s firing plenty of sperm he should make it back very quickly.
40 sons at £5k and 40 daughters at £2.5k makes £300k without selling sperm off after the second or third year.

It all in the love juice. Same as horses or any animal with a good breeding line. Shame its not the same for humans!

These businesses are not reliant on agriculture for their income. This is the very top of a pyramid system within the Texel breed society - basically a play ground for the very rich... abit like Monte Carlo. Investing in agriculture like this can be rewarded with Tax relief...

But, this is an investment at the same time. This ram was bought by a 3 way syndicate. The ram will be used on each flocks most elite ewes. Those rams will be sold next year to an inflated value as the smaller/lower breeders in the pyramid system chase the dream of of owning genetics off of "the most expensive ram in the world". The ram himself will have semen taken and sold for several hundreds of pounds - or even thousands - for each straw.

Tophill Joe, the first ram to break £100,000 (125,000 guineas) back in 2002 (or was it 2003?) made his new owner over £1m in the years he was alive.
