Just social media I’m sure the incidents are similar to normal, everyone who’s a member ( thousands) posts them in here, if there were real issues I’m sure the bbc would have a field day ( excuse the pun)

There's a lot of them though, if that's normal there's some real numpties about who really shouldn't be on the road. If the rules change and you need a hgv licence, mot's and heaps of other regs it will be the same numpties shouting the loudest about how its not fair. While those with an actual working brain who can do a job properly will have to put up with more rules.

We used to do some work on a farm with a track with an open crossing like that.
The speed of the trains was very deceiving.
You could see a long stretch of track in either direction and looking at an approaching train, head on, it didn't look to be going very fast at all - the next thing you knew, the bugger was at the crossing blowing his horn :banghead:
If you could see a train, no matter how far away it looked there wasn't time to get across.
People not familiar with the crossing (as a chap driving a bale chaser is likely to be) very often nearly got caught out.

It had a telephone. Should they not stop and phone every time they cross?

Your supposed to use the telephone and speak to the signalman to get across

Only if there's a phone.
The one I'm on about was 30 years ago that only accessed 2 or 3 fields that were cut off by the railway. No phone and the gates were open pretty much all the time.
Things have probably changed nowadays but I guess them big old diesel goods trains were going at much the same speed then, as now.
