Also reckons its ok to have a Belgian plate on the trailer drawn by a UK tractor unity as the trailer is Belgian !!What a load of carp blog that is. Blaming brexit for bridge strikes. I've heard it all now.
The daft thing is, though, we're letting lorries on the road that are wrong for our own infrastructure because we haven't acted on the problem. The EU apparently has over there on the continong, and probably laughs at us.What a load of carp blog that is. Blaming brexit for bridge strikes. I've heard it all now.
He says it's him measuring the height of the first in a load of round bales on his lorry ~ which is why I posted his thread. He's quoted a thread about the bridge strike, then addressed the apparent mismatch between the lorry and container, going on to consider how such strikes can be so common over here, in comparison with the EU.Also reckons its ok to have a Belgian plate on the trailer drawn by a UK tractor unity as the trailer is Belgian !!
Then goes on to give the impression that he is a professional driver
That's like going really slowly when you pull out of a field with muddy wheels so that the mud isn't flung off. Then speeding up when you get to a neighbours gate

Probably because our rail infrastructure is Victorian, whereas continental Europe’s rail infrastructure was quite heavily bombed to bits during WW2, then built back better. UK was skint and railways were bankrupt after the war so infrastructure barely been improved in 150yr., going on to consider how such strikes can be so common over here, in comparison with the EU.
It's been ages since I've travelled, so you'll be far more informed about what's going on. When he's around in this area next, I'll ask an HGV driver acquaintance what he thinks. Bridge strikes do get reported in the news, but that one's the first I've read about this year. The height of lorries has increased, though. I followed a massive Morrisons juggernaut westwards before lambing started that definitely wouldn't be able to go under a rail bridge. But are bridge strikes far more common here ? I've seen plenty of low bridges in mainland Europe they are just as common as here. Next time i'm in the EU I will keep a look out for bridge damage. To me it just sounds like a typical "everything in the EU is better" rant
I employ a former HGV driver who used to mainly do continental work, he's told me about some of the bewildering array of rules and regulations such as not being able to travel at certain times, and weight limits changing as you cross borders
