Have been trying in vain to update my xcn2050 from v 3.5.1.3 to the latest v6.20.001.30.4 but it will not recognise the upgrade file. (usb is working for backup and I tried both the unzipped and the zipped version but the system does not see the file)
I spotted a video on an american website
which said that there has been a change in firmware file type and you have to step upgrade through one or both of the v4 updates.
Any advice and info where to get these files wouldbe appreciated thanks.

It is a secondhand system and was supplied with latest firmware v6 file from the dealer. Just trying to figure it out on a very wet few days! Usually I get better info here than from dealers ??

All of the earlier versions of f/w except v.6.12 and v.6.21 seem to have been removed from Trimble's website, don't know why, so if the dealer hasn't got them ?‍♂️?‍♂️

Trimbles website is a mystery to me! Cant understand why they just dont make all updates available?. I have found all the firmware files on Greenfield ag site in the states. Just nervous that the files for different regions might be different

Yes but nervous to use as dont know if regional versions are the same?‍♂️ See post above with slightly different version numbers?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️
Think your worrying too much. If they were in Chinese you may have a point, but they’re just ‘Merican.

They are simply a means to an end and you have the final firmware version you wish to apply right?

Yes, you have to instal UPX file first. After that, you can upgrade to any version you want. It is not possible do downgrade installed versions.

Ok. I am on v 3. Just so I understand what you are saying I need to get to late v4 which is upx. From there on firmwares are .zip files and once v4 is loaded should take v6? Maybe I am overthinking but I wonder would v4 american get the step done? Oh it would be much simpler if trimble just left the firmware versions online like they do in US?

Yes, you're right!

you cant directly upgrade from 3.5 to version 6. there was a change in the firmware structur in version 4 so you need to go trough version 4 before upgrading any further. from the start page you go in to display setings and then firmware. if you have your tmx connected to the internet it should show version 4 automaticaly in the firmware window. once it has ben upgraded to version 4 you can follow the youtube video.
