What’s the secret to a run free finish? Should I be thinning it? Says on the tin, “don’t over brush”, but it would be a right mess if i didn’t keep going over it.

It’s not a yacht; just a sheet of ply hung on the workshop wall to fasten the electric boxes to, but I’d like to get a good finish.

Have you ever heard of a painting technique called laying off? Leaves a perfect finish google might have a description for you
As in don’t bother:mad:!!. Thinning ain’t made a sh** of difference, all the b*****d stuff wants to do is run:mad:.

Yeh, I’ve heard of it but I’ll need to refresh my memory. But this ain’t paint: I have no problem getting a good paint finish.

You need to put on multiple thin coats and not one thick cost. Lay off with a brush to get rid of brush marks and then leave alone to cure.

For the ultimate finish build up the layers and then when fully cured flat off with 1200 grit wet and dry and then wire wool and then polish with T cut and car polish.
