I haven’t analysed anything yet, but I think I accidentally made biochar in the middle of this heap

Is that good or bad? I was hoping to break down wood chip bedding. Hopefully not going too far off topic.

Bit of wood chip, not broken down inside though.

What went into this heap? No, it's not bad. It's a stage of composting.

Ash wood chip, some straw, hay, cattle dung and some top soil from underneath mature beech trees to try help break down the wood.

It just looks like it may need some air, that's all.

It got tipped out in a long low (windrow) pile in a field that day, so I must have another look and take a pic of it after 3 weeks.
