East Anglia Forecast:

Following an exceptionally warm night, temperatures will shoot up through this morning, reaching the mid to high 30s Celsius widely, with the highest, and likely record-breaking, temperatures of 39-40C expected through parts of Cambridgeshire and perhaps Central London. Temperatures gradually dropping away tonight into the high teens, although still staying around 20C in places. Bright and breezy for much of the day with hazy sunshine. This evening alongside falling temperatures, showers will push in from the west, these with the risk of being locally potent alongside frequent lightning. Hourly rainfall totals may reach 10-15mm, although confidence on this remains low. A few isolated showers may linger overnight.

Forecast - 2 to 5 Days (weather and hazard summary)

Sunny spells tomorrow with showers developing through the day, these likely to be heavy and thundery with hourly rainfall totals reaching 15-20mm. It will also be less hot than Tuesday, but temperatures will reach the high 20s Celsius widely. Through the evening showers will gradually die away, although the odd isolated shower may linger overnight. Cooler overnight too. Sunny spells and a few light showers around on Thursday, these lingering in places overnight. More frequent and heavy showers expected on Friday, these looking to ease away overnight. Mostly dry and warm on Saturday, followed by a dry and clear night.
