Forecast:
Forecast - 24 hours (weather and hazard summary)
Mainly cloudy today with some spots of light rain or drizzle and a more general area of patchy light rain will spread into Norfolk this afternoon. A more organised area of heavier rain will move into the southwest of the region early this evening, spreading northeastwards across all parts later this evening and into tonight. The rain will vary in intensity through the night but will gradually become lighter later in the night. 24-hour rainfall totals are likely to reach 10-15mm with the highest totals expected around Essex where locally over 15mm cannot be ruled out.
Forecast - 2 to 5 Days (weather and hazard summary)
Saturday: Christmas morning will be cloudy with overnight rain gradually easing. Still a lot of cloud in the afternoon with the odd spot of drizzle but it will be mostly dry and a brisk easterly wind will make it become chilly with some sunny spells perhaps developing across Norfolk. By the evening, a band of heavy rain will arrive in London and this will slowly move northeastwards across the region through the remainder of the evening and overnight with some sleet possible in Norfolk for a time. 24-hour rainfall totals are expected to reach 10-15mm once again, particularly in southern and western parts of the region. With this coming on the back of similar rainfall totals on Friday night, there is the risk of this leading to some localized flooding.
Sunday to Tuesday: Cloudy on Boxing Day with further rain during the morning, this becomes confined to Norfolk by the afternoon, and it will turn lighter. A lot of low cloud and mist will follow overnight but there is the chance of an area of heavy rain affecting southern parts of the region later in the night and into Monday morning. It will remain unsettled into next week with spells of rain moving in from the west or southwest and it will turn increasingly mild and breezy.
