Zero grazing

I used to zg with a Kidd single chop
Someone asked if I would lift some 4th cut with it , it devoured a 10ft swath of fair heavy wetish grass and blew it to the back of a ten tonne trailer
Shame there isn't a similar type new machine nowadays, front mower and away you go !

I believe you can buy a similar machine from eastern Europe, trailed straight behind the tractor from memory. Importing it and spares would be another matter.

We've a grass tech gt160 going into its fourth season. A few minor issues with reliability but to be fair to them they've had great back up. 5th April start date last year but lacking grass at the mo!

I buffer feed with one of these in the evenings when I get short of grass around the dairy

I wouldn’t recommend a Bonino. My AB 70 is 4 year old now and iv always regretted not going for the heavier built Irish machines. Bonino too light weight and built cheaply. Mower width is a pain in the arse as well. Needs to be wider or it needs to swing out further so the whole mower can actually be used. I have it on 120hp deutz with 540 tyres and my mower still has a good 10-12” of cutting width in it but it just doesn’t swing out far enough

Sent ours back. Had it on a t6030 and you couldn't get it out far enough so you weren't cutting driven on grass. You couldn't make a left turn on the road without smashing the PTO off.

You need a double wide angle shaft to be able to make full use of the mower, they are expensive but work well tho. As for turning left, I take it your drawbar ram was on the boninos hydraulic and not the tractors?

One thing ive noticed after trying the grasstech, zerograzer and buying a second hand bonino is that I think I can gather a load of grass quicker with the bonino than the other two, I can comfortably cut at 8/9mph in a sensible crop but didnt think I could go anywhere near that with the irish machines or am I just plain forgetful ?
Belaire have a uk dealer not far from me now and im intrigued by their rear door chain and slat conveyor.

What does the zerograzing systems one do differently to the bonino to limit the speed? Couldn’t have lifted as quick with our Bonino as the elevator was hydraulically driven and would stall if you were pushing on.

The rear door chain conveyor looks good, I’d like to see it going, I wonder would it just come out in lumps, think it would be dead on for splitting the loads up a passageway, not so sure about dispensing into feed bunkers [emoji848]

I’m sick of pto clutches with my Bonino. You need enough revs when starting pto that it doesn’t stall tractor but too many revs and pto slips for too long and eventually clutch plates give up so end of last year I put a bigger clutch on and for the few weeks I used it it seemed ok

Ours came with one of these type clutches, it was useless, as you say slipped and banged every time you started, changed it for a disc type clutch which was a lot better

I cut anywhere between 12 and 20 kmph. Elevator takes everything easily

Yeah my concern was that it would leave the grass v lumpy, to be fair the bonino does leave a very tidy row up the barrier but the beaters and conveyor are all wearing parts whereas a good slow moving chain and slat conveyor will last a long time.

We run a McCormick cx 105 on our ab 80 and to be fair it has a partial engage before fully going in and that really helps getting started.

Long shot. Anyone have a replacement control box for a Bonino AB70? Or Alternatively recommend a good place to get one. I doubt Dave king can give ours a kiss of life but ill send it to him all the same.
