Few years ago (actually about 18 but who's counting?!) my old boss sold the cows and turned the farm over to arable, keeping me on for harvest work. Chap who came in to do the combining used to spend the winter months as a ski instructor @ above location and come back to drive his brother's combine during our summer- Couldn't get much better than that I would of thought :)
Know a family member/partner in a well-known pedigree cattle breeders outfit who went out to Thailand to acquire and run a brothel, where he remains (presumably contented and happy) to this day.

Probably used a few skills learnt on the farm in the new business

Family member yes, but not a partner if it is the person I think you are referring to.

The Odd-Bod of the family by all accounts.

For a while he had a farm or at least somewhere between Cardigan and Aberaeron, which I believe he sold when he went to Thailand.

He used to come home once a year for a couple of months, but have not heard anything about him recently.

If you are desperate to find out, whether running a brothel in Thailand is a "cash cow", I can ask his brother or sister.

I must admit, I would find it difficult questioning his parents, as I doubt he has told them what he does in Thailand.

I suppose it is only another of farming, and making the "livestock" work for you.

My lad is out in the Alps now cheffing and skiing and that which His mother best not know about. He's one of the better paid ones but still gets paid bug all, its a great life for a young bloke but not a career.

I won't spoil this post by asking level of remuneration people think they might achieve through the above suggestions.

As for me, writer on condition I had a six figure down payment on my first novel with film rights imminent.

Went to see The Secret life of Walter Mitty last night at the Colchester Odeon. V. good.
