Im about to start to strip the front end of my IH674 down to sort the dodgie steering out. Not ever done this kind of job before I would like to know if it requires any special tools.
Obviously I've got the usual sockets, spammers etc & ball joint splitter but will I need anything else? Only I don't want to start stripping it only to find I can't finish it due to not having the right tools.
The steering is shocking, with loads of play so when driving it, it has a mind of its own. I've looked at it from underneath while someone turns the wheel & can see where there's play so I need to find out what needs replacing.
Does anyone know how heavy the front end is? Only want to be sure my axle stands will hold it safely.
I'm guessing there will some kind of bushes etc that will need replacing, is this correct? If so what kind of bushes are they?? Will they come out with heat etc?
Finally has anyone used Intertracuk. for replacement parts? If so what are they like? Or can you suggest anywhere else to supply the parts I'll need?
Thanks Stu
