Trump has not suppressed the press. They can print what they like at the moment.

However I don't see any of you up in arms about the UK press being suppressed thanks to Max Mosely.

Of course you've always been able to read news in the USA which is illegal to print in the UK. Like the affairs of the rich and famous.

Max Mosley is a private individual and as such has the right to a private life, so long as it is within the law. Donald Trump has now crossed the Rubicon as the public representative of the American people, his actions and behaviour are therefor now public property and available to be scrutinised and commented on by a free press. If he didn't like that part of the job he shouldn't have put himself forward or grown a thicker skin.

Not sure but I think our friend Wanton Dwarf is actually referring to the Max Moseley funded UK press regulator IMPRESS. Sorry if I have misinterpreted your reply.

Bit of a link here to an article about it. As say I may well have muddled the replies with what you or WF are saying - but hey ho.

Yes, you are right. I was thinking about the circumstances that brought Mosley's press actions about.

They were passed
I Know they have been passed now but did the mining and water pollution act get passed by congress or as it states in one of the links that either you or someone else put up ,that it never got passed and Obama just did an order on it in December 2016

Obama, now wasn't he great.

dstudent,

I am in no position to answer all of the intricate items you refer to, I have several different business operations that need my attention from time to time.
I do know a little about the waters of America deal.......this was going to give the Government thru the Corp of Engineers absolute control of all water in the country............if you have a puddle on your property that does not dry up (permanant) they own the rights to it, any stream/pond/ditch and on and on.

This impinges on a persons property rights.......value of property and so forth, tell me what right the federal Gov has to interfere with what happens on my property..? I will tell you...they have NO right.

One of the basic pillars this country was built on was personal property rights.....to own and be in control of land/property, the land itself/whats under it and above it.
Rolling back a lot of these stupid regulations was what got President Trump elected, we have had eight yrs of inertia, so now it's time for action.

Can follow your logic and I expect freeholders throughout the world would concur with the sentiment. Certainly I expect farmers on this forum would concur but what if the activities on said private land affect others off that land? Is that not the case with objectives of the 'Stream Protection Rule'

I am not at all familiar with the broader 'Waters of America' deal but even before today had heard about the 'Stream Protection Rule' and thought it required mine owners to monitor water quality and act if the water was or became contaminated - and in particular would affect hilltop mining - for which I had assumed meant in 'our English' Opencast mining.

Happy to be corrected. regards.

No, you cannot pollute and expect to get away with it, the EPA will have your guts and your wallet (VW group just found out that cheating on air pollution devices the cost is now $25 billion dollars and that one or more of their execs may be looking at some jail time)
We are not talking about pollution per se, it was the commandeering of all waters in the country by the Feds......imposing their dictate over your water, that's not right and that was what the fight was about.

I think these are government lands rented out to mine companies. Not private property.
Rented out at the government loss, I believe? it is my understanding that a revision of rent prices, was shut down.
Ps this is not previous administration V current, this is about private interests always looking for their own interests not the little man's, basically business as usual just a little bit more?

interesting that you disagree with someone who lives in the US, so I looked it up and guess what he is right and youre wrong it covers any water that moves even if the stream/ditch doesnt flow all year

The Federal government should not in my opinion any way be in the land business, the rights of the states should take precedence, like so many times in recent years the feds think it's their job to dictate to everyone.
This country was founded on small government, leave it at that, let the citizens of the states decide for themselves what they want.
No wonder there is a rise in sentiment for a couple of states to succeed.

thank you for that @rob1 , I am not disagreeing with @Roger Perry at all, I am referring to coal companies, who mine government lands, I am sure these regulation will also include private property. The all point was about coal jobs and how these will be affected by these regulations, as well as the environmental and health consequences of water pollution for farmers and their lands.(y)

Unfortunately the Ponce HIV pence is more of a slime ball than the orange mucus, remember he is a man on a mission from "God", well Satan more like.
Plus the Democrats deserve a right a** kicking, they have become too complacent, anyway historically they have both followed the same neo-liberal capitalistic economic systems, and foreign policies, so I am not feeling sorry for the Dems one bit, they deserve as much contempt as the Republicans.
The only positive thing I can see coming out of all this, is that people have become more active in their politics, making their politicians accountable.

Kindly do check my previous posts to @Roger Perry regarding this issue, and do feel free to comment afterwards. Thank you(y)

When you throw insults you show you have lost the argument, cant see anywhere where you have agreed with him about the river laws
