Had quick look about and came across some lambing lubeo_O jobs a goodun!.

Next April when you're cruising the fields and chance upto a ewe needing assistance...... but oh no you have no lube

But you will notice that in there is a bottle of dog's "wine"??!

It says that it's an infusion of elderflower, lime flower, ginseng and nettle! Never mind the dogs I think that might get me going in the mornings. :)

I was thinking that, but I was trying to get my head round it - if towards you I thought the effect would be to try to bend the tines because of the points of pivot?
Guess it would move either way a short distance?

Hmm, yes I suppose it will move either way, I was looking at the post and the fact that if it went away from you, as you suggested, then the tines would contact the post and then be bent around it?
But looking at it again a bit closer, all the contact points of the spring, in its current position, do suggest that it is pulling the gate towards you, so you are possibly right in saying that it swings away.

Who'd have thought a sprung gate would create such discussion.....:)
