As a holder of C & G Ag Machinery Technicians Certificate and a N. Dip. Agr. Eng. (Nowadays called a degree) I would suggest that I am competent.

Insurance Co. thinks otherwise - :(

That seems to be the problem. But if you sign up with one of the recognized testing organisations as an 'independent examiner' you can do it. CFTS in my case. For obvious reasons you can't really do a report your own kit, if that is what you were thinking....;)

No loader on a tractor can or ever will pass as they have no SWL figure on them as the manufacturer doesnt know what tractor it will fit on so cant determine its safe load

It is a legal requirement under the HSE. There's always something about it when I renew the insurance for the old 3CX.Would likely take thousands to bring it up to scratch and I'm the only one to ever use it,so I'll take my chance! NFU say they will insure the thing but if something happens and the HSE were to get involved, the insurers will walk away. Would think the insurance really only covers fire and theft or means you have a certificate if plod asks for it while you're on the road.

Anyone needing a safe load indicator for an old sanderson? the original parts are no longer available and were silly expensive anyway plus a tool needed to calibrate them.

I have a cheap fix for this problem which pleases the inspectors(y)

In the marine industry, a ‘competent person’ is a watch-keeping engineer, there are standard reports that need to be filled in every time the equipment has a ‘thorough examination'. The two terms in parenthesis are from the loler regulations, which are freely available on line.
