Fortunes are made in one generation and gone in three. It has long been the way that estates rose, were improved and then dissolved and rebuilt again and again. I wish the man well if he is revitalising an area at his personal expense.

Intelligent and enterprising bloke does well for himself off his own ideas and endeavours, the establishment, in this case other land holders, don’t like the ‘Jonny come lately’ taking their public funding. Because... well he’s not one of them that deserves it, they’ve been doing it for generations
You couldn’t make this sh!t up anywhere else.

these Billionaire types of investors should be made to undergo a fit and proper test.the likes of sitting a NVQ 2 in Horticulture or Agriculture, only then will they have an understanding of what they intend to buy.
I dont know if it is still the same now, but when I lived in Denmark, anyone could buy a farm, however to run it, you had to have a green card ( NCA in Ag equivalent, plus 3 years experience farming, 2 of which could not be on the home farm). I wonder if they still have this rule? I was told it was bought in to stop rich Germans buying all the farm land in Denmark. And obviously, the college course had to be done in a Danish college. I think there was another rule as well, you had to have permission from the local council to split a farm house from the land, and every piece of land or farm sold, had to be offered to the smaller farmers in the area first, if they wanted to expand, before it could be sold to anyone else. Not sure if that is still in force? I would be interested to know?

Great to see a bit of good old fashioned jealousy and envy coming out :) (que the ' I'm not jealous ' responses)

Please don't shoot the Golden Goose, Mr Dyson is a very wealthy man, something we all aspire to be (que the ' I don't want to be wealthy, as long as I have enough to get by responses) he is British and proud of it.

Thankfully it is not Drug Dealers or Oligarch's that are buying our land, so welcome the likes of Dyson, we need more like him.

I accept it's tough if you've had a eye on the neighbouring farm for years, then his like come along and sweep you aside, but that's life. But, farmers are not to well known for there gestures of generosity where money is concerned.
