Yeah US built cars so sought after here and Asia, cant move for legions of Chevvy smackdowns and Ford excommunicators in Berlin and Bangkok.

Im glad to see Drumpf showing the socialist side with his centrally planned economy, and to think such an idea is met with acclaim on a farming forum where folk moan like sin about government interference, the irony!!
What is wrong with wanting fair trade? I suppose you would be happy for us to be the dumping ground of the world as long as it’s cheap

There is no such thing as fair in business!

Is it fair Amazon can murder high street shops?

Is it fair supermarkets sell fuel cheap forcing other forecourts to charge £5.67 for a mars bar?

Is it fair a US worker on average generates 7 times the economic output of a Chinese worker?

Is it fair that coal from Australia is cheaper than stuff from Wales?

Business is not fair.

Isnt this a farming forum where all folk want is stuff cheap?

Its a global marketplace that gives unrivalled power to customers and investors. Any attempt to subvert this is market control and is the very opposite of capitalism.

So the Chinese are dumping steel cheap, more fool them. How long can they make that pay?

Its 40 years too late to complain about globalisation now.

I was just reading a comment that Amazon didn't pay taxes on $5 Billion in the USA.

Globalisation is fake .. it's just tax avoidance by the super rich.

The solution is fair trade and of course seizing assets 8)

If you had bought 1 share in Berkshire-Hathaway when it was first floated it would have cost you $11-00, that 1 share was worth $302,000 the other day........capitalism is not everything..........its' the only thing.

I’m glad you mentioned Berkshire. When Trump started talking last week about the benefits of trade wars, I wondered to myself what Warren Buffet wool think.
Hey presto. A very interesting read. http://amp.timeinc.net/fortune/2016/04/29/warren-buffett-foreign-trade

So the annual gross outflow of $881 billion needs to be curbed..........but how to achieve it...?

Warren is a smart cookie but has made some major blunders along the way, insisting that the companies he purchased be actual bricks and mortar holdings he missed out on big tech only taking a position later.

And right now sitting on a cash holding of approx $102 billion while he looks around for something that may come for sale........yes he is a legend, but even legends screw up once in a while.

So finally we have some recognition into what Government policies in the Western world have done.

Liberals moved jobs from the West to China to build stuff cheap for rich people in Western cities .. whilst the majority lost out wholesale the rich were not only not affected, they got goods cheaper and made money on the imports.

Im glad someone is so vehementently pro capitalist they dislike government interference in economics as much as I do.

When London built the new container port was that not interference in economics ? what about cross rail ? HS1, HS2, HS3 ? What about the new runway at Gatwick, Channel tunnel ? Climate Taxes ? A local mushroom farmers pays £67,000 in climate taxes can he compete with imports ?

What about tax reductions & benefits for financials ? pensions ? regulation ?

Everything a government does influences the economy from spending to revenue to domestic policy, education and foreign policy.

That is why Brexit has happened because anyone who does understand the economy realises the Westminster are not playing the same game with everyone in the UK - which is SPECIFICALLY why London has so much money.

Im sorry but I voted to leave. I did not vote to reverse globalisation. It is not possible.

You see China was made by Neo Liberalism which formed by governments such as Blair, Cameron, Bush & Obama creating anti Western policies which have greatly benefitted the rich.

As soon as Tariffs are brought in local businesses prosper, as taxes are spent locally rather than sent to London local businesses prospers AND of course pollution drops because goods are made using clean energy & transport pollution is practically negated.

Hopefully the great lie is ending.

If regulation is brought on imports Neo Liberalism is dead.
