I bid on the Manitou 735, I was the highest bidder when it was only me and it hadn't made the reserve and it stopped short, I said I'd like to have a deal if they let me know how much they wanted, an hour later they said they'd sold it to someone else without saying anything about price

Quite a few cheap bits of kit there I thought

Reserves are the deaths of auctions, be it machinery or property. In my opnion, a well advertised auction sets a fair price, and reserves just spoil it. Part of the reason I dont go to these ones are that all the shiny gear seems to only be there to pull the crowds and very little seems to sell, leaving a glorified junk sale. Might as well weight it, put it all in one heap, and sell it s mixed scrap. Give everyone a bacon roll and knock off early.
