Need a qualification for knapsack?

So to be clear: -
If I use a knapsack with a generic roundup product around the farm, I need a certificate?
But if I use my own in my garden, I don't?
Np grandfather rights anymore?

Correct in that there are no grandfather rights any more. Incorrect in thinking you can spray your garden with the same product without qualifications. To do so would mean using the products you can buy in the garden centre, which are more dilute and cost about 10x what the ‘professional’ products do.

But surely, if I was to get a knapsack sprayer, it would need checking and certifying every year, wouldn't it?

I think I shall continue weeding by hand as I usually do. Far less complicated.:)

Yes PA1 and PA6 Qualification.

This. If it's as a professional operator i.e. you're doing it as part of your business, you need these. For Red Tractor you'll need records of calibration & inspection too. The rules don't apply to domestic users simply because no one would ever take any notice of them & the home stuff is much more dilute. And expensive.

This is rubbish and i dont care what anyone says.i can go to b and q or homebase, screwfix, machine mart etc and get one like any member of the public and put chemical through it with no qualifications what so ever.most people can get hold of a bit of glyphosate from a friendly farmer too.why are the general public exempt and we get fleeced for qualifications which are basically common sense.ill get my hard hat on now.
