Does Dyson intend to buy England

Oh yes I get that part but surely any business makes the sensible/efficient choices irrespective of the surrounding "noise" ?

Yes, more and more are relocating abroad. It is especially notable that the champion Brexiteer, who actually manufactures nothing in the UK, is now even relocating his head office abroad. At least Rees Mogg has only moved some hedge funds to the Irish Republic as far as we know and so far.

Dyson is essentially moving his group headquarters out of the UK and therefore the UK PLC will essentially not benefit from Dyson. In terms of his Dyson PLC investment in the UK against their investment in Asia the UK element is minimal. He is keeping the research element here and I suspect that will be a subsidiary to the main group and as they are undertaking research for Dyson group the research arm Dyson Research (UK) will make no profits and therefore pay no corporation tax. The money he is investing from the press release is only in bricks and mortar there is no increase in staff in UK.

These large companies are all very cute in their press releases in trying to give an impression that nothing has changed but essentially behind the scenes there are restructuring the company in terms of subsidiaries who do not actually deliver profits and the profits are generated at Group Holding level based in a low tax country.

I feel he is another one of the wealthy hypocrites who advocated the UK is better off out of the EU but he is not actually investing and creating money for the UK PLC now that the UK will be out of the EU. As has been said many times on other threads on these forums his buying of land is all a TAX dodge.

Tax "dodge" or sensible business decision making? In this global world of ours corporate taxation doesn`t seem fit for purpose....
Tax dodge - the income/corporation tax he saves by going to Singapore he will invest in more UK farmland saving his kids a fortune in inheritance tax, he’s as bad as Philip Green

Maybe if we were getting proper brexit instead of the balls up we look like getting he might of stayed,in tm agreement we cannot undercut Europe on taxes to gain an advantage so I don’t blame him for going

I read this morning, Corporation tax is 17%. 19% here I think.
Its 20% here.. but a further 32.5% is now charged on dividend income to higher rate tax payers. So corporation tax is in effectively 52.5% for shareholders who earn over £34,500  Being marginally over the higher rate income limit is the worst place to be as a shareholder! Expensive mistake that was :banghead:

Nonsense. We set our own taxes including corporation tax, which is about to be reduced one percentage point, or it has already been reduced, not sure which. Ireland is lower still and has been for years.
Another attempt at demonising the EU for something that has always been under UK control. You must already know this of course, because we get regular Budgets.

We can also choose how much VAT to charge and on what goods of course.

Read the agreement before you start telling us about it,you say we are in control of our taxes but could we do a way with vat altogether? I think you will find we cannot

Dyson is a big advocate of Brexit of course. What he didn't tell anyone was that he intended to brexit all his wealth creation out of the UK as soon as the UK left Europe.

Sony are also moving their European head office from the UK to mainland Europe. Looks like a whole lot of big brands are abandoning ship.
P and O ferries going to The Netherlands as well apparently
