Without trawling through posts I’m a arable farmer and have approx 170 round bales left over from a load I did, local chap wants them I really only want to cover my costs as they will sit there and be worth nothing .
They owe me fert loss and cost of baling / clearing fields .
I have a price in mind but I don’t want to be a mile out and want to be fair, they are decent bales but not the heaviest as like most was blimmin dry.
What would a fair price be please . We are in Bedfordshire so not in a high demand area.
Thanks
£12 a bale

The frequency of N and E winds is at its highest from March till June as the polar vortex disintegrates after winter and the arctic cold spills out over the northern hemisphere and is usually the reason we quite often get spring snowfalls especially in my neck of the woods in NE Scotland .Also sea temperatures reach thair lowest point in March and therefore there is less moderation of cold air if it comes from a N or E direction. The air just now is coming from the tropics but the high bringing it only has to move to the west to of the UK to reverse the winds to Northerlies and wintry weather will return. I class March as a winter month up here and we often have more snow in March than in December.

So possibly still a lot of forage needed before true spring. My main concern is drought this coming summer. Reverse phsycology in that I that statement so I hope it makes it rain as fields are turning into dust bowls with these strong dry south winds.

It costs me £15 / bale to make thats without any rent .how do you make it so cheap

Rough cost
£35 an acre lost fert
£2 a bale baling costs ( don’t think it costs me quite that)
@ 8 bales a acre = £16 + 35= £51 / 8 bales = £6.35 a bale
Plus clearing field so £8 covers it .
If I get a tenner then that should give me a bit for hassle and he should be happy then?
