Silage / Straw / Hay Price Tracker

sellers thinking they are going to get this big money that's been banded about, they may well come unstuck yet depends on the weather, everyone knows 15/20 quid is plenty for a round bale of silage/hay anyway

Always a moaner on here.

Ooh those nasty forage hoarders are going to lose money, oh wonderful.

Yet if it is scarce those who have already sold, are condemded as greedy and causing the shortage.

It is a market, nothing less nothing more. We are all business people, producing a product which we try to sell to make a profit, yeilds go up & down some years crops are lost to weather. The same applies to stock farmers who buy fodder in.

Those who do the job well at either end buying or selling will make the money over an average of 7 years. Those who judge markets badly will fail. Lets face it would be wrong if farming was so good that no one ever failed.

that's not very nice

Its not nice when in a glut year some joker wants to offer £5 each for silage bales.

But if he is the only Man offering a price he is still your best friend.

Sorry Henarar but your hostility to farmers working hard to produce forage has been annoying me for almost 2 years now. It was a drought last year and that is just the roll of the dice, fodder is expensive.
