Stabiliser cows to charolais bull

All the promotional material, talks, and farm visits seem to be herds of Stabiliser cows and Stabiliser bulls. The benefits of this combination is well documented.
But is anyone running a continental terminal bull, particularly thinking Charolais, with Stabiliser cows. Trying to get a guage of how this combination would work. My aim is good hardy efficient cows but need the Charolais to make it count in the sales ring.

Very tempted to this myself. Would have to be an easy calving strain.
Would be interesting to compare growth rates too.
As it is I'm sticking with stabiliser bulls to keep options open on upgrading the herd, and potential heifer sales.
One day...

Sorry, not much help to you.

Will aim to get a stabiliser bull later for same reasons as you but need to up the cow numbers first.

My brother is doing this . Stabiliser cows to a polled Charolais bull . It’s his first year doing it, so once calving kicks off early April , he’ll be able to tell me if it goes well or not . The bull is a credit to the breed, nice and square with a super temperament!
Cockerington bred I think !:)

Hope it all goes well and turns out as he wants, I'll maybe check back with you for an update. Im surprised there is so little mention of stab x charolais on the internet as i would have expected a lot of suckler herds to be using a Charolais bull and surely a few must have some stabiliser cows.

If wanting to up cow numbers don't you want a stabiliser bull now to breed more?

Are you in a position to finish bulls? If so do you need to worry about Ch for calf sales?

Are you close to being pure at this stage? Going to calf our first home bred stab sired heifers this spring. Hoping to get pure but as with everything in suck cows, its a long slow burn!!

Still a long way from a pure herd, though this year's heifers will be f4/f5. A few cows are pure as well.
Some blue x cows here still too, and quite like the first x out of those. Maxing out on hybrid vigour I guess:D

I think I read that the grades of the Char x calves were better but growth rates were comparable to Stabiliser calves. They finish their own bull calves, of course.
Just read they got rid of their Charolais herd and went all Stabaliser, but as you say they finish all their bulls and only keep the very best for breeding. Plus I belive they have there own beef outlet as well

We've been running Hereford x Friesian cows and Blonde bulls however the iffy health status, tb and problems sourcing replacements has meant we've introduced Stabiliser cows and heifers into the herd this year. We've got some F1 and F2 Stabilser heifers crossed with a Stabiliser AI bull, some F1 and F2 Stabiliser cows crossed with a top 25% Blonde bull and some HEX cows crossed with a top 1% Blonde bull so it'll be an interesting comparison. All calves will be finished on farm with the males likely to be finished as bulls.

The F1 and F2 and heifers cows are from Simm and Hereford cows and whilst we're a long way from the pure status I've been impressed with what we've seen so far, calf vigour in particular seems impressive with the Stabiliser sired calves but we've got another week or so before the Blondes start.

It is a long slow burn . We`re just starting calving down our 1st generation Stabiliser heifers. Last year we lost quite a few heifers to TB, this year quite a few heifers tested positive to Johnes. Next year Rodney.
